The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist

With the arrival of warmer weather, there is nothing better than giving your home a fresh sparkle with a spring cleaning. Here’s a comprehensive list of things you can do to freshen up your home for spring. Make sure you have recycling and garbage containers handy ,and maybe a few empty bins to help you keep things organized.

Bedrooms

Open the windows to let in the fresh air.
Give furniture a good dusting.
Rearrange items in drawers, and toss or donate things you don’t need or use.
Remove items from the closet, and clean the closet floor. Donate or toss unneeded things.
Clean underneath the bed and freshen the mattress by sprinkling it with baking soda. Let it absorb the odours for a while and then vacuum it up.
Clean lights and shades.
Wash window sills and windows, including the screens.
Wash walls, trim and light covers.
Clean mirrors, wall art, doorknobs, doors and vent covers.
Vacuum and wash the floor.

Bathroom

Open the window if there is one.
Go through the vanity and other cabinets. Toss expired things. Wash inside drawers and return items you’re keeping.
Wash doors of cabinets and inside all garbage containers.
Clean bathtub, shower stall and sinks, including drains.
Give the toilet a good cleaning inside and out.
Clean mirrors and frames.
Clean vent covers.
Vacuum and wash floor.

Kitchen

Open windows.
Wash blinds or curtains.
Clean out drawers. Check food for expiration dates. Toss any old or outdated items into garbage containers.
Clean cutting boards and sanitize.
Wash down outside of cupboard doors and knobs.
Clean the stovetop and oven, including underneath and behind.
Clean out fridge, including the vacuum coils in the back, and wash underneath and behind.
Clean out microwave and remove crumbs from toaster.
Wipe down and disinfect counters.
Wash windowsills, windows and screens.
Wash light fixtures and plates.
Wash down walls, doors, knobs and trim.
Vacuum and wash floor.
